Talking Trash Music Workshops
Biography

Talking Trash was set up by Jim Cartwright in April 2007. Jim himself has been playing drums and percussion for over 20 years and has played in many bands, of various styles both across the UK and in Europe. In addition he has recorded both studio and radio session for several acts, labels and radio stations including ‘Eastwest’ and ‘XFM’. He is now part of the band ‘Shoes’ playing on the London ‘scene’, as well as a performer in a street music project commissioned by ‘Artangel’  across London in October 2007.

In addition to a wide musical background and knowledge Jim has a degree in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge and over 10 years of experience of working with groups of adults, young people and children, having been a TEFL Teacher, Teaching Assistant in London Schools, Community Development Worker, the Co-ordinator of the Festival of London Youth Arts, Event Management Course Leader at the Brady Centre in Tower Hamlets and both the Sound Live Co-ordinator and the  Regional Manager for Offenders/ex-Offenders at the Prince’s Trust.

Since setting up, Talking Trash have run workshops for Eastside Arts, the Larmer Tree Festival, Epic Arts, Artifacts Edutainment, Artswork/Hub4, the Ellern Mede Centre for Eating Disorders, Croydon Clock Tower, the Catherine Rose Office/Milton Keynes Youth Service and the Druid Street Residents Association.
